Description: Isopropyl alcohol is ideal for precipitating nucleic acids. In comparison to ethanol, approximately half the amount is required for precipitation which minimizes the total volume for recovery. Isopropanol is a clear, colorless, polar organic solvent commonly used in chemistry and molecular biology laboratories. It will dissolve a wide range of chemicals, and evaporates quickly.

Dimethyl Sulfoxide is a dipola, aprotic solvent. It has been shown to accelerate strand renaturation (1-10% concentration) and is believed to give the nucleic acid thermal stability against depurination.
Dimethyl Sulfoxide is used to enhance dermal absorption of many chemicals, as a solvent for many organic and inorganic compounds including fats, carbohydrates, dyes, resins, and polymers, in antifreeze or hydraulic fluids, as a cryopreservative for cell cultures, oxidation of thiols and disulfides to sulfonic acids, as a PCR cosolvent to help improve yields, especially in long PCR. DMSO is routinely used in polymerase chan reaction (PCR), amplification of cDNA libraries, DNA sequencing, column-loading buffers for poly (A)+ RNA selection, buffers for the transformation of competent E. coli, and transfection protocols.
To prepare sterile solutions use a teflon or nylon membrane to sterile-filter the DMSO - do not use a cellulose acetate membrane.

Polysorbate 20 is nonionic surfactants derived from sorbitan ester, it is soluble or dispersible in water but differ widely in organic and oil solubility.
Polysorbate 20 is typically used as an emulsifying agent for the preparation of stable oil-in-water emulsions, particularly in pharmaceutical applications. It is also used in pre-extraction of membranes to remove peripheral proteins & as a blocking agent on nitrocellulose at a typical concentration of 0.05%.
Series of nonionic surfactants derived from sorbitan esters. They are soluble or dispersible in water but differ widely in organic and oil solubilities. Used as oil-in-water emulsifiers in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, cleaning compounds, etc.

Ferrous sulfate heptahydrate is a reagent used in the manufacturing of iron compounds, in electroplating baths, aluminium etching, process engraving and lithography, and in redox polymerisation. It is used as a reducing agent in chemical processes, leather dyes and writing inks. Also, it is a component of weed killers, wood preservatives and water treatment processes. Used In prevention of chlorosis in plants and therapeutically as hematinic. In veterinary medicine, it is used as an astringent to combat iron deficiency. Ferrous sulfate heptahydrate is used in the determination of phosphorus as per the method of Taussky and Shorr. Ferrous sulfate heptahydrate is used in cell culture applications generally bound to transferrin, citrate or other iron transport molecules.

Description: Pectinase is a macerating enzyme comprised of pectintranseliminase, polygalacturonase, pectinesterase, xylanase, hemicellulases and cellulases.
Pectinase is used in plant protoplast preparation to digest cell wall prior to organelle isolation.
Pectinase causes random hydrolysis of 1,4-alpha-D-galactosiduronic linkages in pectate and other galacturonans.

Description: A heterogeneous blend of fructose polymers that function as plant storage carbohydrates.

Supplier: MP Biomedicals
Description: Carnitine is a quaternary amine that occurs naturally in most mammalian tissue.
It is present in relatively high concentrations in skeletal muscle and heart where it is involved in regulating energy metabolism. It shifts glucose metabolism from glycolysis to glycogen storage and enhances the transport of long chain fatty acids into the mitochondria where they are oxidized for energy production.
Store at Room Temperature(15-30 °C), desiccate

Description: Sodium chloride is a commonly used chemical which is found widely in nature. It is considered to be an essential nutrient. Excess amounts of sodium chloride can destroy electrolyte balance and cause death in most animals, including humans.
Sodium chloride is used in a wide variety of biochemical applications, including intravenous fluids (normal saline is 0.9% w/v in water 10), density gradients 3,6, a diluent to increase ionic strength in buffers or culture media and in salt-out procedures in the isolation of DNA. It has also been used in high concentrations for preservation of foods since bacteria cannot grow in high salt conditions. A salt-ice mixture in the ratio of approximately 33 g sodium chloride to 100 g ice (at -1°C) will drop in temperature to as low as -21°C, depending on the rate of stirring and the size of the ice chunks.

Description: Natural tomato lycopene is a mixture of isomers, primarily (all-E), but also some (5-Z) and two lesser and unidentified cis isomers, all of which are difficult to resolve by LC. Lycopene is an open chain unsaturated carotenoid that gives tomatoes, guava, rose hip, watermelon and pink grapefruit its red color. Studies show that lycopene intake is significantly associated with lower risk of lung, colon and stomach carcinogenesis. It is an antioxidant.
Isolated from commercially-grown tomatoes (L. esculentum) and once recrystallized and hexane washed.
Antioxidant micronutrient of tomatoes associated with decreased risk for cancer and cardiovascular disease. Enhances gap junction communication between cells via upregulation of connexin 43 and reduces proliferation of cancer cells in culture. Inhibits cholesterol synthesis and enhances low-density lipoprotein degradation. In vitro, lycopene is a powerful carotenoid quencher of singlet oxygen, being 100 times more efficient in test tube studies of singlet-oxygen quenching action than vitamin E, which in turn has 125 times the quenching action of glutathione (water soluble). Lycopene metabolite apo-10'-lycopenal, or ALA, may have an important role in the metabolism of hepatic lipids, and may prevent build up.
-20 °C, protect from light, store under nitrogen.

Description: Ribavarin is an antiviral compound reported to be active against RSV, HIV, HCV and other infectious agents. Its metabolite, ribavirin 5'-phosphate, inhibits inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase (IMP). It is also an analog of the imidazole nucleotide intermediates in purine nucleotide biosynthesis.
Ribavirin is active against a number of DNA and RNA viruses. It is a member of the nucleoside antimetabolite drugs that interfere with duplication of viral genetic material.
Antiviral agent used against a wide variety of human viral infections, in particular, chronic hepatitis C, HIV, and adenovirus. Its metabolite, ribavirin 5′-phosphate, is an inhibitor of inosine monophosphate (IMP) dehydrogenase, but many other mechanisms of action are also supported with experimental evidence.
Antiviral agent whose metabolite, ribavirin 5′-phosphate, is an inhibitor of inosine monophosphate (IMP) dehydrogenase. Used to inhibit purine (GTP pools) biosynthesis at the level of inosine monophosphate (IMP) dehydrogenase and as a precursor to the di- and tri-phosphates which inhibit viral RNA-dependent RNA polymerases.
Store at +4 °C.
