Description: Isocitrate dehydrogenases catalyze the oxidative decarboxylation of isocitrate to 2-oxoglutarate. These enzymes belong to two distinct subclasses, one of which utilizes NAD(+) as the electron acceptor and the other NADP(+). Two NADP(+)-dependent isocitrate dehydrogenases have been found as homodimer: IDH1 is predominantly cytosolic and peroxisomal and IDH2 is mitochondrial. Both IDH1 and IDH2 play significant roles in the tricarboxylic acid cycle (TCA), and defects in IDH1 as well as IDH2 have been implicated in the development of glioma as well as other malignancies.

Description: The ring finger protein RC3H1, also known as Roquin, is a highly conserved member of the RING type ubiquitin ligase protein family whose M199R mutation leads to the excessive production of follicular helper T cells and germinal centers in the sanroque strain of mice, a strain with excessive IL-21 production and high titers of autoantibodies. The complete loss of RC3H1 induces early death and immune deregulation but not autoimmunity in RC3H1-null mice, suggesting that the mutant RC3H1 is more disruptive to the immune system than its complete loss.

Description: RBPMS (RNA binding protein with multiple splicing), also known as HERMES, contains one RRM (RNA recognition motif) domain and belongs to the RRM family of RNA-binding proteins. RBPMS exists as multiple alternatively spliced isoforms and is thought to bind RNA, possibly playing a role in RNA-related events, such as transcription and translation. RNA-binding proteins that are specific to retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) have been previously identified as excellent markers for RGCs. Recent findings show that antibodies against RBPMS are robust reagents that exclusively identify RGCs in multiple mammalian species. RBPMS Antibody is ideal for researchers interested in neuroscience research.

Description: PTPRF or leukocyte common antigen-related protein (LAR) is a widely expressed protein tyrosine phosphatase with an extracellular receptor region that resembles a cell adhesion molecule. PTPRF removes phosphate group from β-catenin, an event that may subsequently facilitate cell-cell adhesion and ensure the stability of the cadherin complex. This phosphatase has also been implicated in various cellular processes such as neurite growth, nerve regeneration, actin remodeling and regulation of insulin function (1,2,3,4). Anti-PTPRF (C-terminal) antibody is specific for the extracellular and cytoplasmic subunits of human PTPRF (approx. 210, 150 and 85 kDa). Detection of the PTPRF bands by immunoblotting is specifically inhibited by the immunizing peptide. Anti-PTPRF is ideal for researchers interested in Cell adhesion Cadherin-mediated cell adhesion pathways, PAK pathways, insulin resistance and ureterocele.

Description: The low density lipoprotein receptor (LDL-R) gene family consists of cell surface proteins involved in receptor-mediated endocytosis of specific ligands. Low density lipoprotein (LDL) is normally bound at the cell membrane and taken into the cell ending up in lysosomes where the protein is degraded and the cholesterol is made available for repression of microsomal enzyme 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A (HMG CoA) reductase, the rate-limiting step in cholesterol synthesis. At the same time, a reciprocal stimulation of cholesterol ester synthesis takes place. Mutations in the LDL-R gene cause the autosomal dominant disorder, familial hypercholesterolemia. Along with SCARB1, CLDN1, and the tetraspanin superfamily member CD81, LDL-R has been reported to be an entry factor for the Hepatitis C virus. At least three isoforms of LDL-R are known to exist.

Description: The SWI/SNF related matrix associated actin dependent regulator of chromatin subfamily a member 4 (SMARCA4) protein, also known as BRG1, is a member of the SWI/SNF family of proteins and is similar to the brahma protein of Drosophila. Members of this family have helicase and ATPase activities and are thought to regulate transcription of certain genes by altering the chromatin structure around those genes. The encoded protein is part of the large ATP-dependent chromatin remodeling complex SNF/SWI, which is required for transcriptional activation of genes normally repressed by chromatin. In addition, this protein can bind BRCA1, as well as regulate the expression of the tumorigenic protein CD44.

Description: The Suppressor of cytokine signaling (SOCS) and cytokine-inducible SH2 proteins are a family of intracellular proteins which regulate the immune cell responses to cytokines. SOCS1 acts to suppress dendritic cell (DC) as well as T cell hyperactivation following cytokine signaling by inhibiting JAK tyrosine kinase, a kinase necessary for type I and II cytokine receptors to initiate signaling, by directly binding to the catalytic domain of the kinase. SOCS1 also possesses E3 ubiquitin protein ligase activity that results in the polyubiquitination of its target proteins and subsequent degradation by the proteosome. It is through this method that SOCS1 negatively regulates signaling by Toll-like receptors TLR2 and TLR4 by mediating the degradation of the TLR signaling adaptor protein TIRAP.

Description: Surfactant protein A is an innate immune system collectin. The gene encoding SP-A map to mouse chromosome 14. Surfactant protein-A, which plays a role in innate host defense in the lung, is also expressed in the Eustachian tube. We report that the frequency of specific surfactant protein-A haplotypes and genotypes differs between children with recurrent otitis media compared with a control population. This antibody is suitable for researchers interested in cancer research.

Description: SOX2 is a member of the SRY-related HMG-box (SOX) family of transcription factors involved in the regulation of embryonic development and in the determination of cell fate. SOX2 is required for stem-cell maintenance in the central nervous system, and also regulates gene expression in the stomach. Mutations in this gene have been associated with optic nerve hypoplasia and with syndromic microphthalmia, a severe form of structural eye malformation. The role of SOX2 in embryonic development suggested that it might be useful in the creation of stem cells that might be useful in cell replacement therapies in the treatment of degenerative diseases. Artificial stem cells, termed induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells, can be created by expressing SOX2 and the transcription factors POU5F1, Klf4 and Lin28 along with c-Myc in mouse fibroblasts. Other experiments have shown that iPS cells could be generated using expression plasmids expressing POU5F1, SOX2, KlfF4 and c-Myc, eliminating the need for virus introduction.

Description: TMIGD1 (transmembrane and immunoglobulin domain containing 1) is a 262 amino acid single-pass membrane protein that contains two Ig-like C2-type (immunoglobulin-like) domains (1,2). It is a nonsecreted, glycosylated protein located in the cytoplasm and cell membrane (1). TMIGD1 might be a possible cell-differentiation marker in the intestine, whose expression is lost during cellular transformation and promote progression of tumorigenesis in the intestinal epithelium (2-4). TMIGD1 has also been postulated to play a role in cell adhesion (2).

Description: Calcium-activated chloride channels (CaCC) are present in many cell types and mediate physiological functions such as epithelial secretion, sensory signal transduction, and smooth muscle contraction. Subunits of these CaCC's include the transmembrane proteins TMEM16A and TMEM16B. TMEM16B is predicted to have eight transmembrane domains with both the amino and carboxy termini in the cytoplasm and is expressed in several tissues including olfactory sensory neurons as well as photoreceptors in mammalian retina. Like TMEM16A, TMEM16B is thought to form at least part of CaCC's but has different biophysical characteristics such as voltage dependence and unitary conductance.

Description: TNFAIP2, also known as B94, is a TNF-a-regulated gene that is expressed in endothelial cells, peripheral blood cells, and mature sperm. Recently, elevated TNFAIP2 expression was observed in nasopharyngeal carcinoma, and high expression of TNFAIP2 was significantly correlated with higher levels of cell migration, invasion and metastasis, suggesting that TNFAIP2 may serve as a useful prognostic indicator for nasopharyngeal carcinoma. TNFAIP2 has also been implicated as part of the viral-sensing circuit of the innate immune response.

Description: Glycoprotein VI (GP6) is a 58kD platelet membrane glycoprotein that plays a crucial role in the collagen-induced activation and aggregation of platelets. It is uniquely expressed by cells of the megakaryocytic/platelet lineage, and is a member of the immunoglobulin gene superfamily, closely related to Fc receptor gamma chain (FcRgamma) and natural killer receptors. Glycoprotein VI plays a key role in platelet procoagulant activity and subsequent thrombin and fibrin formation. This procoagulant function may contribute to arterial and venous thrombus formation. The signaling pathway involves the FcRgamma, the Src kinases (likely Fyn/Lyn), the adapter protein LAT and leads to the activation of phospholipase C gamma2. GPVI deficiency can result in bleeding disorders. Further study should reveal the extent of GPVI involvement in thrombotic disease and allow the development of alternative anti-thrombotic compounds.

Description: Human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) entry into target cells is directed by the envelope (Env) glycoproteins, which are present on the surface of HIV-1 virion or infected cells in the form of trimers consisting of gp120/gp41 complexes. The surface subunit, gp120, initiates the entry process by interacting sequentially with the CD4 receptor and a co-receptor CCR5 or CXCR4, thereby inducing a conformational change that allows the transmembrane (TM) gp41 subunit to mediate fusion between viral and target cell membranes. Cleavage of Env into its gp120 and gp41 components is necessary for activation of its fusogenic activity.
