ImmunO™ Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA), MP Biomedicals
Supplier: 0000012207
Albumins are a group of acidic proteins which occur plentifully in the body fluids and tissues of mammals and in some plant seeds.
- Proteases: <5 ng/mg
- Sodium: ≤10 mg/g
- Chloride: ≤3 mg/g
- Heavy metals:<10 ppm
- Iron: ≤5 mg/g
- Loss on drying: 0.007
- Conductivity :<3000 mS (10%)
- Negative for Bluetongue and Vesicular Stomatitis Virus
- IgG, Protease-free
- Optical rotation: [a]259: -61°; [a]264: -63° (Lit.)
- Absorbance: <0.1 (4%) @ 440nm
Albumin is used to solubilize lipids, and is also used as a blocking agent in Western blots or ELISA applications. Globulin free albumins are suitable for use in applications where no other proteins should be present (e.g., electrophoresis).
Prior to lyophilization, the product is filtered through a 0.2 µm filter.
Certain conformational and primary-sequence epitopes of BSA are suspected allergens in human beef and milk allergies.
