Description: Nephrin is strongly expressed in renal glomeruli and is a member of the immunoglobulin family of cell adhesion molecules. Mutations in the Nephrin gene result in congenital nephrotic syndrome, an autosomal-recessive disorder characterized by massive proteinuria in utero and nephrosis at birth (1). Renal glomeruli allow normal kidneys to filter plasma so that it is very pure. Nephrin is expressed in the podocyte slit-diaphragm of the renal glomeruli in a manner that suggests that Nephrin molecules homodimerize in an anti-parallel fashion similar to cadherin interactions in adherens junctions. Thus, Nephrin may constitute the entire extracellular structure of the slit-diaphragm (2,3).

Description: NALP proteins are cytoplasmic proteins that form a subfamily within the larger CATERPILLER family and are thought to play a crucial role in cell proliferation and reproduction. Like all other NALP family members, NALP11 has a C-terminal leucine-rich repeat (LRR) region, an N-terminal Pyrin domain (PYD) followed by a NACHT domain, and a NACHT-associated domain. While little is known about the function of NALP11, it has been suggested that it has been associated with Crohn's disease.

Description: Neuropilin and tolloid-like protein 1 (NETO1) is involved in the development and/or maintenance of neuronal circuitry. It is a type I transmembrane protein that is expressed in the brain and retina. NETO1 contains one LDL-receptor class A domain and two CUB domains and is either membrane-bound or secreted. It has three alternatively spliced isoforms, the first two of which are retina-specific and the third of which is found in both retina and brain tissue. Furthermore, as an accessory subunit of the neuronal N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDAR), it regulates long-term NMDA receptor-dependent synaptic plasticity and cognition, at least in the context of spatial learning and memory.

Description: The NIPSNAP proteins comprise a family of evolutionarily well-conserved proteins with strong sequence similarity to the central portion of a protein encoded by C. elegans chromosome III between a 4-nitrophenylphosphatase (NIP) domain and non-neuronal SNAP25-like protein. NIPSNAP2, a novel gene encoding a protein with tyrosine phosphorylation sites and a transmembrane domain, is co-amplified with EGFR in approximately 40% of glioblastomas, the most common and malignant form of central nervous system tumors. It is widely expressed and most abundant in heart and skeletal muscle. NIPSNAP proteins have been suggested to be important in vesicular transport. NIPSNAP2 antibody is predicted to not cross-react with any other members of the NIPSNAP protein family.

Description: NOD2 Antibody detects human NOD2. Apaf-1 and NOD1 are members of a new family, which are involved in the regulation of apoptosis and immune response. Each of them contains a caspase recruitment domain (CARD) and a nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain (NOD). A third member in this family was recently identified and designated NOD2. NOD2 interacts with RICK via a homophilic CARD-CARD interaction. NOD2 activates NF-kappaB, which is regulated by its carboxy-terminal leucine-rich repeat domain that acts as an intracellular receptor for components of bacteria. The variants of NOD2, either a frameshift or a missense, were associated with Crohn’s disease that is a main type of chronic inflammatory bowel disease. Anti-NOD2 antibodies are ideal for investigators involved in NFkappaB and Cytokines and Growth factor research.

Description: NOD4 is a member of the NOD (nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain) family, a group of proteins that are involved in innate immune defense. NOD4 contains a CARD-like domain, a central NOD domain and a large LRR region. NOD4, an IFN-gamma-inducible nuclear protein, plays a role in homeostatic control of innate immunity and in antiviral defense mechanisms. As a key negative regulator of NF-kB and type I interferon signaling, NOD4 may be a useful target for manipulating immune responses against infectious or inflammation-associated diseases, including cancer.

Description: NLRP3(NLR FAMILY, PYRIN DOMAIN-CONTAINING 3),also known as CIAS1, CRYOPYRIN, NALP3 or PYPAF1, is a protein that in humans is encoded by the NLRP3 (NOD-like receptor family, pryin domain containing 3) gene. The NLRP3 gene encodes a pyrin-like protein expressed predominantly in peripheral blood leukocytes. And the NLRP3 gene is mapped on 1q44. NLRP3 interacts with apoptosis-associated speck-like protein containing a CARD (ASC). The encoded protein may play a role in the regulation of inflammation and apoptosis. Mutation of the NALP3 nucleotide-binding domain reduced ATP binding, CASP1 activation, IL1B production, cell death, macromolecular complex formation, self-association, and association with ASC. Consistent with an essential role for Nlrp3 inflammasomes in antifungal immunity, Gross et al.showed that Nlrp3-deficient mice are hypersusceptible to C. albicans infection. Activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome in response to virus or to RNA was dependent upon lysosomal maturation and reactive oxygen species production in human cells. The NLRP3 inflammasome senses obesity-associated danger signals and contributes to obesity-induced inflammation and insulin resistance. This antibody is suitable for researchers interested in cancer research.

Description: Nicastrin, in addition to presenilin, PEN2, and APH-1 forms the gamma-secretase protein complex, a membrane-bound aspartyl protease that can cleave certain proteins at peptide bonds buried within the hydrophobic environment of the lipid bilayer. This cleavage is responsible for a key step in signaling from several cell-surface receptors and is thought to be required for the generation of the neurotoxic amyloid peptides that are central to the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease. Like the tumor necrosis factor-alpha-converting enzyme (TACE) and the beta-site cleavage enzyme (BACE) protease families, gamma-secretase will cleave the amyloid precursor protein (APP), but within the intramembrane region of APP, resulting in either the non-toxic p3 (from the alpha and gamma cleavage site) or the toxic Abeta amyloid peptide (from the beta and gamma cleavage site). It is thought that accumulation of the Abeta peptide is the precursor to Alzheimer's disease. Nicastrin is also thought to be involved in cell proliferation and signaling, especially in regards to activation of Notch receptors as loss of Nicastrin expression results in mouse embryonic lethality.

Description: Ninjurin-1 (NINJ1) is a homophilic adhesion molecule that is strongly induced in dorsal root ganglion (DRG) and Schwann cells following nerve injury and promotes neurite outgrowth of DRG neurons (1,2), suggesting that NINJ1 may play a role in nerve regeneration. NINJ1 is transcriptionally regulated by p53 and is induced by DNA damage in a p53-dependent manner. A deficiency of NINJ1 increases p53 expression, suppresses cell proliferation, but enhances apoptosis and premature senescence in a p53-dependent manner as well as radiation-induced cell mortality (3).

Description: OCC-1 (Overexpressed in colon carcinoma-1) was initially identified as a novel human cDNA overexpressed in a colon carcinoma cell line. Elevated levels of OCC-1 mRNA were observed in three of eight colon carcinomas, suggesting that OCC-1 may be a hallmark of only a subset of colon carcinomas. It is highly expressed in skeletal muscle, kidney, placenta, and pancreas tissues, with low to no expression in heart, brain, lung and liver tissues. At least two different OCC-1 mRNA species are known to exist.

Description: Op18 belongs to the stathmin family of genes and encodes a ubiquitous cytosolic phosphoprotein that may function as an intracellular relay integrating several signaling pathways such as those involved in cell proliferation and differentiation. Op18 has also been shown to be involved in the regulation of the microtubule filament system by destabilizing microtubules, thereby preventing assembly and promoting the disassembly of microtubules. More recently, op18 has been implicated as a potential target of the ASK1-p38 MAP kinase cascade, suggesting that the ASK1-p38 cascade may regulate microtubule dynamics through op18. Op18 is highly expressed in a wide variety of human malignancies, including leukemia, prostate cancer, ovarian carcinoma, and breast carcinoma, suggesting that op18 may be an ideal target for anti-cancer therapeutics.

Description: The NOX family of NAPDH oxidases is comprised of seven transmembrane proteins that oxidize intracellular NAPDH/NADH, causing electron transport across the membrane and the reduction of molecular oxygen to superoxide (1). NOX3 is expressed predominantly in the inner ear and is involved in the biogenesis of otoconia/otolith (2,3). It has been suggested that NOX3 is activated by the Transient Receptor Potential Vanilloid 1 (TRPV1), and this activity causes increased levels of reactive oxygen species in the inner ear, which in turn leads to STAT1-mediated inflammation and hearing loss (4).

Description: Noxa antibody detects f mouse Noxa. Apoptosis is related to many diseases and development. The p53 tumor-suppressor protein induces apoptosis through transcriptional activation of several genes including p53R2, p53AIP1, and PUMA. A new p53 target gene, Noxa, was recently identified, which encodes a protein belonging to the subfamily of BH3-only proapoptic proteins. Noxa and PUMA are both transcriptional targets of p53 and BH3-only proteins. X-ray irradiation increased p53-dependent Noxa mRNA and protein levels. Noxa, when ectopically expressed, interacted with anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 family members, resulting in the activation of caspase-9. Noxa, like PUMA, localized to mitochondria and induces apoptosis in response to p53. Noxa and PUMA may represent direct mediators of p53-induced apoptosis. Increased levels of p53 and its target gene Noxa was found in the impaired tumor development. Anti-Noxa antibodies are ideal for inverstigators invovled in Apoptosis and Cancer research.
