Description: Fibrinogen is an acute phase protein that is part of the coagulation cascade of proteins. The end result of the cascade is the production of thrombin that converts fibrinogen to fibrin. Thrombin rapidly proteolyzes fibrinogen, releasing fibrinopeptide A. The loss of this small peptide is not sufficient to make the resulting fibrin molecule insoluble, but it tends to form complexes with adjacent fibrin and fibrinogen molecules. Thrombin then cleaves a second peptide, fibrinopeptide B, from fibrin and the fibrin monomers formed then polymerize spontaneously to form an insoluble gel. The polymerized fibrin is held together by noncovalent and electrostatic forces and stabilized by the transamidating enzyme, factor XIIIa, that is produced by the action of thrombin on factor XIII. The insoluble fibrin aggregates (clots) and aggregated platelets then block the damaged blood vessel and prevent further bleeding. The amount of fibrinogen in the plasma can serve as a nonspecific indicator of whether or not an inflammatory process is present in the body. Fibrinogen from any mammalian source will be cleaved by thrombin from any mammalian source.

Description: Molybdenum Trioxide is used as a precursor to LAMOX fast ion conductors and superconductors. Also Used in the solid state synthesis of a remarkable ternary, reduced molybdenum oxide, Pr4Mo9O18, whose structure contains previously unknown Mo7, Mo13 and Mo19 clusters. The new cluster product is a small band gap semiconductor.

Description: Natural tomato lycopene is a mixture of isomers, primarily (all-E), but also some (5-Z) and two lesser and unidentified cis isomers, all of which are difficult to resolve by LC. Lycopene is an open chain unsaturated carotenoid that gives tomatoes, guava, rose hip, watermelon and pink grapefruit its red color. Studies show that lycopene intake is significantly associated with lower risk of lung, colon and stomach carcinogenesis. It is an antioxidant.
Isolated from commercially-grown tomatoes (L. esculentum) and once recrystallized and hexane washed.
Antioxidant micronutrient of tomatoes associated with decreased risk for cancer and cardiovascular disease. Enhances gap junction communication between cells via upregulation of connexin 43 and reduces proliferation of cancer cells in culture. Inhibits cholesterol synthesis and enhances low-density lipoprotein degradation. In vitro, lycopene is a powerful carotenoid quencher of singlet oxygen, being 100 times more efficient in test tube studies of singlet-oxygen quenching action than vitamin E, which in turn has 125 times the quenching action of glutathione (water soluble). Lycopene metabolite apo-10'-lycopenal, or ALA, may have an important role in the metabolism of hepatic lipids, and may prevent build up.
-20 °C, protect from light, store under nitrogen.
Supplier: MP Biomedicals
Description: Storage: Room Temperature, desiccate, store under nitrogen.
Ferrous sulfate heptahydrate is a reagent used in the manufacturing of iron compounds, in electroplating baths, aluminium etching, process engraving and lithography, and in redox polymerisation. It is used as a reducing agent in chemical processes, leather dyes and writing inks. Also, it is a component of weed killers, wood preservatives and water treatment processes. Used In prevention of chlorosis in plants and therapeutically as hematinic. In veterinary medicine, it is used as an astringent to combat iron deficiency. Ferrous sulfate heptahydrate is used in the determination of phosphorus as per the method of Taussky and Shorr. Ferrous sulfate heptahydrate is used in cell culture applications generally bound to transferrin, citrate or other iron transport molecules.

Supplier: MP Biomedicals
Description: Soluble in water (100 mg/mL), alcohol, methanol, glycerol, propylene glycal or ethanol; insoluble in cold ether.
Catalog Number: (IC19136105)
Supplier: MP Biomedicals
Description: An antiseptic and disinfectant agent. It is effective against a wide range of bacteria, some fungi and some viruses, and an agent for the prevention of gingivitis. Commercial ophthalmic products have used this agent to replace thimerosal as a preservative; however, it can cause skin irritation.

Description: Rose Bengal is a fluorescent probe for determining NAD binding sites of alcohol dehydrogenase.
Catalog Number: (IC0520181180)
Supplier: MP Biomedicals
Description: 1,2-Butylene Oxide is a hydrogen chloride acceptor in chlorocarbons, e.g. trichloroethylene. It is also a valuable intermediate in many syntheses, e.g. in the production of butylene glycol, 2-amino-1-butanol, and polyols for polyurethane plastics. Other products obtained from it are nonionic surfactants that are used as textile and dyeing auxiliaries, crude oil deemulsifiers, etc. It is also used as a solvent for natural and synthetic resins and in polymerization. Physical Appearance: Off-White Powder Solubility: Soluble in Chloroform, Dimetyl Sulfoxide and Ethanol

Supplier: MP Biomedicals
Description: Dexamethasone is an anti-inflammatory glucocorticoid that induces the production of phospholipase A2 inhibitory protein (lipocortin). It also inhibits induction of nitric oxide synthase (IC50=5 nM). Dexamethasone has been shown to cause reduction in cyclin A and Cdk2 activity, inhibition of G1/S transition in osteoblasts and inhibition of phosphorylation of Rb protein. Dexamethasone has been observed to induce apoptosis in human thymocytes and eosinophils but to inhibit apoptosis in neutrophils.
Catalog Number: (IC15010980)
Supplier: MP Biomedicals
Description: Soluble in water (100 mg/mL- clear, colorless solution). The presence of hydrochloric acid or sodium chloride decrease water solubility. Also soluble in methanol and ethanol.
