OxyFluor™ (OF) is an enzyme formulation that has been designed for use in fluorescence microscopy to prevent photo-bleaching and photo-damage by removing dissolved oxygen directly into water, at the request of researchers in the field
The formulation of OxyFluor™ combines Oxyrase®, and DL-Lactate (100mM) to stabilize the Oxyrase® in suspension. Depending upon conditions of use, 10 to 20mM of DL-Lactate and/or DL-succinate subtrates may need to be added to ensure efficiency.
One unit of OxyFluor™ activity will reduce dissolved oxygen (in 1mL of air saturated 40mM phosphate Buffer, pH 8.4, at 37C) at the rate of 1% per second, and the rate of oxygen removal increases with temperature. However, above 55°C, it is rapidly inactivated. OxyFluor™ is active over a wide pH range of 6.8 to 8.4. It can be stored in the range of 2° to 8°C, if used within 30 days.
OF also continues to keep oxygen out of the specimen being observed over extended periods of time. OxyFluor™ is non-sterile, but has a bioburden less than 103 cfu per milliliter.
Ordering information: OxyFluor™ has a shelf life of 18 months under recommended storage and use conditions. Oxyrase® Inc. guarantees a minimum of 6 months shelf life from shipment date. If a longer shelf life is needed, this should be arranged at the time the order is placed (OxyFluor™ is shipped direct to customer.).
