Create a mini-ecosystem and then perform a chemical reaction to produce sulfur dioxide. Students will learn how air pollution reacts in the atmosphere to produce acid rain and how that in turn affects the pH of water. They will also be able to observe the effects on the Daphnia and plants in the ecosystem. It is recommended that this lab be performed under a fume hood.
