LB continues to be one of the most common media used for maintaining and cultivating recombinant strains of Escherichia coli. Powdered LB is available in premixed Miller or Lennox formulations and in Ready-Pack™ pouches which prepare 1L of media.

Formulation of 10 g tryptone, 10 g NaCl, and 5 g yeast extract (25 g powder total) per L of liquid broth.
The instructions included on the VWRVJ106 label state to prepare LB broth by dissolving 25 g powder per liter in deionized water.
