Multitrans™ Collection and Transportation Systems
Swabs Transport Swabs
The Multitrans™ System is used for the collection and transportation of viruses, Chlamydia, and mycoplasmas obtained from clinical specimens within a 72 to 96 hour period.

The Multitrans medium and glass beads are held within a durable, polypropylene vial and capped with a skirted, swab retaining cap. The swab is scored so that it is easily snapped off into the vial; after capping and reopening, the swab is neatly inserted into the cap for easy, contamination free handling. The media vial and sterile wrapped swab are packaged in a plastic peel pack.

The generous amount of medium ensures that the swab is kept under optimum storage conditions. The glass beads aid in the disruption of cell-associated viruses, releasing the viruses into the medium, and increasing the potential for viral recovery. The uniquely designed cap engages the swab and secures it upon reopening. System shelf life is 12 months. No refrigeration is required. Swab is 15.2 cm (6") in length.

Ordering information: Each system consists of a blue, skirted, screw cap with a double seal; a 10 ml polypropylene break-resistant tube containing transport medium with antibiotics and glass beads; conical insert for centrifugation; and a scored, plastic shafted, swab (either polyester tipped or nylon flocked) in a convenient peel pouch.
