Blood
Peripheral blood cells are collected from healthy donors by direct collection or by using the Spectra Optia® Apheresis system. Cell-rich leukapheresis product is extracted using continuous flow centrifugal technology directly into the collection bag.

Purification, isolation, and cryopreservation of cells are performed on-site immediately following collection utilizing best-in-class instruments, biopreservation media, and standardized protocols. The rigorous operational controls mitigate any potential loss while ensuring viable and functional cells post-thaw, guaranteeing that customers receive consistent high-quality cells.

Monocytes: Monocytes are isolated via immunomagnetic separation - the yield and purity are then validated using flow cytometry. The monocytes are guaranteed to have >90% purity and >95% viability. CD14+ monocytes are isolated from mononuclear cells by either positive or negative selection using immunomagnetic cell separation procedures. Monocyte cells (which include classical, intermediate, and non-classical monocytes) are the body’s largest white blood cells. Monocyte cells are phagocytic immune cells that are capable of killing infected host cells via antibody-mediated cellular cytotoxicity. Under the right culture conditions, monocytes can differentiate into dendritic cells, Langerhans cells, or macrophages.

Dendritic Cells (DCs): Dendritic cells are cultured in vitro from monocytes and are guaranteed to have >90% purity and >80% viability as measured by flow cytometry. Dendritic cells (also known as accessory cells) are highly specialized antigen-presenting cells that are located in mucosal tissues, skin, and lymphoid tissues. Dendritic cells play a major role in the initiation of immune responses because they act as messengers between the innate and adaptive immune systems. The main function of dendritic cells is to process and present antigens on their cell surface leading to activation of T cells.

Macrophages: Human macrophages are differentiated from freshly isolated CD14+ monocytes and are guaranteed to have >90% purity and >80% viability as measured by flow cytometry. Macrophage cells are key players in the immune response by ridding the body of worn-out cells, foreign substances, microbes, and cancer cells, and alerting the immune system to the presence of invaders. Macrophage-based cell therapy is a growing field showing promise in treating cancer, spinal cord injury and autoimmune disease.
