Peripheral blood cells are collected from healthy donors by direct collection or by using the Spectra Optia® Apheresis system. Cell-rich leukapheresis product is extracted using continuous flow centrifugal technology directly into the collection bag.
Purification, isolation, and cryopreservation of cells are performed on-site immediately following collection utilizing best-in-class instruments, biopreservation media, and standardized protocols. The rigorous operational controls mitigate any potential loss while ensuring viable and functional cells post-thaw, guaranteeing that customers receive consistent high-quality cells.
Human Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells (PBMCs): Human PBMC samples are used as source material to isolate lymphocytes (T cells, B cells, and NK cells) and monocytes for basic research or cell therapy applications. All PBMCs are isolated on-site and same day from a leukopak collection using Ficoll density gradient centrifugation. Strict SOPs ensure the highest quality, yield, and purity of mononuclear cells while greatly reducing contamination from unfavorable cells such as granulocytes, red blood cells, and platelets, thus ensuring viability and functionality of the mononuclear cells for downstream research. Flow cytometry is used to determine white blood cell yield, purity, and viability, as well as the percentage of various immune cell subsets.
Disease State (PBMCs): With the disease state program, users now have access to a consistent source of high-quality and well-characterized, Research Use Only human disease biospecimens with focus on immune-mediated diseases (autoimmune diseases).
Custom collections under IRB-approved protocols from patients recruited using specified Inclusion/Exclusion (I/E) criteria are available to meet customer project demands. Custom biospecimen samples include a detailed report summarizing targeted disease history, disease treatment, I/E compliance, and demographic profile.
