Work station cleaners can be used to help remove dust and dirt from computer terminals and other sensitive surfaces. Electrostatic discharge (ESD) is the sudden flow of electricity between two objects in contact or close proximity. Even small amounts of unplanned ESD can cause fires, contamination, or other damage to electrical, manufacturing, or other sensitive processes. ESD can be controlled through the use of electrically conductive or static dissipative flooring, footwear, clothing, grounding wrist straps, and humidity control, among other tools and procedures. Static dissipative materials are less conductive than electrically conductive materials, and provide a slower, more controlled release of static electricity to ground.

It is made with deionized water, and does not contain alcohol, ammonia, or silicones that may contaminate integrated circuit (I.C.) boards during manufacturing or handling. This cleaner is mildly cationic to rebalance ions on a surface and neutralize any static charges that could lead to electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage in sensitive environments. The cleaner comes in ESD-safe packaging for use in cleanrooms and electrostatic protected areas, and can help to meet American National Standards Institute/Electrostatic Discharge Association (ANSI/ESDA) S20.20 requirements.
