Synonyms:
3,8-Diamino-5-ethyl-6-phenylphenanthridin-5-ium bromide
, 3,8-Diamino-5-ethyl-6-phenylphenanthridinium bromide
Used to detect both single- and double-stranded nucleic acids (both DNA and RNA). Does not intercollate into single-stranded DNA very well; therefore, the fluorescence of single-stranded DNA is relatively poor in comparison to double-stranded DNA. The recommended final concentration of ethidium bromide in agarose gels and electrophoresis buffers is 0.5µg/mL.
The concentration of the Ethidium Bromide solution is 10mg/mL and is packaged in a ready to use dropper bottle.
Store at room temperature, keep tightly sealed, and protect from moisture and light. Dnase and Rnase Free.
