The Operant Intra- and Extra- Dimensional Set-Shift Task measures cognitive flexibility and executive function, both within the same dimension (intra-dimensional shift) and between different perceptual dimensions (extra-dimensional shift). Response latencies can also be used as an index of speed of information processing, decision-making, and problem solving (Robbins, 2002).
