SLP Single Reagent Set II
Microbiology Test Systems Microorganism Tests
The SLP-HS Single Reagent Set II is able to detect both peptidoglycan (PG) and (1-3)-β-D-glucan (BDG). The product uses a self-defense mechanism of silkworm Bombyx mori which leads to a color change by building a black melanin pigment in the presence of microbial contamination.

  • SLP (Silkworm Larvae Plasma reagent) based test principle
  • Assay Kinetic Colorimetric
  • PG isolated from S. aureus used as standard
  • Detection limit: 1 pg/ml (BDG)/10 pg/ml (PG)
  • Speciment: any sample
  • Analysis automated through Toximaster® software
  • Measurement time: 120 minutes at 30 °C
  • Sensitivity: 10 pg/ml (PG), 1 pg/ml (β-glucan) (detected within 120 minutes with Toxinometer® at 30 ℃)

Since PG is found in all bacterial cell walls and BDG in most fungi, the SLP (silkworm larvae plasma)-reagent constitutes a highly sensitive and broadband method for detection of microbial contamination.
