Tek-Select® Non-Buffered Zinc Formalin is prepared using only high purity chemicals and is ready for application and can be easily used in office-based sites as well as clinics.
- Unbuffered 10% Formalin solution with 1% Zinc Sulfate added in slightly acidified deionized water
- Recommended as an all-purpose tissue fixative for demonstration of crisp nuclear detail
- Provides excellent results for lymph nodes and gastric biopsies
- Presents minimal safety hazards and is non-corrosive
The tissue fixation ability of zinc ions follows from formation of coordinate bonds that hold macromolecules in their native conformation, preventing the damaging cross linkages that formaldehyde alone would create.
It results in greatly enhanced immunopreservation, so antigen retrieval is rarely necessary, and primary antibodies can be diluted 2-10 fold greater than usual.
Zinc salt-based fixation is a simple, cost-effective, and nonhazardous fixation method for cell suspensions that preserves all cellular structures and enables flow cytometric analysis of both surface and intracellular proteins, DNA content profiles, and pulse-labeling using the thymidine analog EdU in the same cell sample.
DNA is maintained at high molecular weight, improving the quantification and allowing subsequent quantitative PCR analysis.
Tek-Select® 10% Non-Buffered Formalin with Zinc will perform equally well in the preservation of surface epitope labeling and forward and side light scatter parameters, as measured by flow cytometry.
Zinc salt-based fixation treatment allows for long-term storage of labeled cells with little change in these parameters.
Tek-Select®® 10% Non-Buffered Formalin with Zinc staining quality and morphologic details yields diagnostic accuracy comparable to that of B-5 Fixative containing mercury.
Tek-Select® 10% Non-Buffered Formalin with Zinc is mercury-free, which improves safety concerns significantly.
