Macintosh Laryngoscope Blades are used for direct, rigid laryngoscopy procedures to view vocal cords, remove foreign objects from the throat, biopsy, or tracheal intubation. In general, Macintosh laryngoscope blades are curved. English Style Macintosh blades are longer than American Style Macintosh blades and feature a more continuous curvature. The English style blade tends to reveal a better view for the user, and is the preferred style to use if laryngoscopy is anticipated to be difficult.
