The bactrox hypoxia chamber can provide microaerophilic conditions ranging from 1 to 20% oxygen in the chamber, with a heated incubator that can maintain tight temperature uniformity for any cell culture needs.

  • This workstation is intended for use indoors at room temperatures
  • The controller derives the O₂ concentration from the measured partial pressure of oxygen (PPO)

The BAXTROX detects the concentration of oxygen in the chamber atmosphere using the black and silver O₂ sensor located on the left chamber wall. The O₂ sensor operates with an internal temperature of 700 °C to produce mobile oxygen ions through disassociation. The volume heated to temperature is very small. The ions are drawn into sensor cavities separated by porous sheets of platinum-coated zirconium dioxide that act as an electrolyte. The controller determines the partial pressure of oxygen by measuring the voltage potential differential between ions separated by the zirconium sheets. That measurement is then compared with reference differentials that were saved in the controller memory during the previous O₂ sensor calibration.

The operator has total command of the work area, yet enjoys ample bench space for efficient performance of all procedures requiring an anaerobic atmosphere. Bactron systems have airtight construction of stainless steel and rigid Plexiglas, for unobstructed vision and integrity. The cuffs form a comfortable seal around the operator's arms permitting bare hand manipulation of plates and specimens inside the working chamber, making work more comfortable and efficient.
