Spherical gold nanoshells (silica core, gold shell)

Novel gold nanoparticle for lateral flow assays and diagnostics. The gold nanoshells have strong absorbance, which gives greater per-particle signal and can provide up to 20x increases in sensitivity compared to 40 nm gold. Gold surface allows for intetration into existing assays with minimal optimization. High contrast blue/gray stripe line (vs. red or pink stripe from 40 nm gold). Carboxyl surface can be used for robust covalent conjugation for greater stability, sensitivity, reproducibility, and greater control over particle antibody loading (often requires less antibody compared to passive adsorption). NHS-activated carboxyl surface provided as dried conjugation kit for rapid antibody sweeping (pre-functionalized with EDC/NHS). Covalently-bound streptavidin gold conjugates for biotin binding.

For NHS Kits: Small reaction kits reconstitute to 100 µL of 20 OD gold for each unit; large reaction kits reconstitute to 1 mL of 20 OD gold for each unit.

Delivery information: NHS materials ship at ambient temperatures, via FedEx Priority Overnight (domestic).

Carboxyl and Straptavidin materials ship via FedEx Priority Overnight (domestic). Cold packaging included. Due to temperature-sensitive nature of these materials, they will only be shipped during the week in order to prevent products from sitting in an uncontrolled temperature environment over the weekend.

Caution: Carbonate and Streptavidin: DO NOT FREEZE. Store at 2 to 8 °C when not in use to maximize shelf life. Nanomaterials can be sensitive to high and low pH conditions and high salt concentrations. Use caution when changing environmental conditions as particles may aggregate.

NHS Dried material: Store at –20 °C. Avoid freeze-thaw cycles. Note: NHS material is shipped ambient but should be placed in the freezer upon arrival. Sonicate to resuspend.
