Squalene, is an organic compound that be found occurring naturally in shark liver oil and certain plants. It is a hydrocarbon that all plants and animals produce in varying quantities. Mostly used in cosmetics as a natural skin moisturizer, it has recently been used as an immunologic adjuvant in certain vaccines.
