SP Scientific miVac Concentrator Chambers, Pumps, and Traps, Genevac
Concentrators
miVac Centrifugal Evaporation Systems provide a compact, high performing solution for removing water and organic solvents from a variety of sample formats. Configure a system to meet your application requirements.

  • Concentrators control the pump, heat and run time with a simple user interface and large digital display
  • Quiet electro-magnetic drive assures maintenance free operation
  • Choose from two centrifuge bowl sizes, three pumps and add-on accessories
  • Variety of sample holder rotors, ordered separately below accommodate tubes, micro tubes, vials or microplates

Ideal for life science laboratories, miVac Centrifugal Concentrators rely on the vacuum in the system to cause liquids to boil at a lower than normal temperature enabling concentrating or removal of solvents at very low temperatures

To prevent evaporating samples from boiling over (bumping) in an uncontrolled manner, simultaneous to the drying process, samples are spun in a centrifuge creating sufficient g-force to keep each sample in its own tube. Configure a system to suit your application needs with a choice of two concentrators, three pumps, optional traps and a pressure controller. High displacement pumps and built-in pre-programmed methods for working with alcohols, water and water mixtures improve performance times and optimize concentration times. Intuitive controls allow users to get first-class results first time with most samples. Easily interchangeable rotors hold plates, glass vials and tubes, and plastic tubes, and can be purchased separately to suit many different tasks and applications.

Concentrators feature an electro-magnetic drive for maintenance free operation and are extremely quiet when in use. A range of disc rotors for tubes and vials, and swing rotors for deep-well and shallow-well microplates allow easy processing of samples in most formats. Simple user interface and controls allow even first-time users to easily set parameters using the set and select dial or use preprogrammed settings. Concentrators also feature a large digital display to easily monitor time and temperature. High displacement vacuum pumps, the SpeedTrap refrigerated condenser and solid aluminum JetRotors make concentration faster than comparable systems.

Duo and Quattro Concentrators each control the pump, heat and run time, and have preset programs for water, alcohol and other solvents. Intuitive controls and a large display with status and program information keep operation simple and provide confidence in run conditions and results. Both concentrators have a temperature range of ambient, 30⁰C, -80⁰C and max g-force of 250 with 0.5” (12.7mm) vacuum connection.

The Quattro Concentrator is a larger concentrator with a larger capacity bowl to handle higher volumes of samples including disc rotors and a four-swing position microplate rotor.
All miVac pumps are oil-free and automatically controlled by and compatible with either the miVac Duo or Quattro concentrator. When using with solvent mixtures, a wide range of solvents or a high vacuum pump, the miVac Pressure Controller is recommended. If unsure, consult your local sales representative about the exact pump configuration for the application you have in mind.
The Duo Pump is a quiet and compact two-head diaphragm pump suitable for removal of most solvents that boil below 130⁰C including water, methanol, ethanol and their mixtures. Pump is housed in a smart case to match other miVac components.
The Quattro Pump is for demanding applications, such as higher boiling-point solvents up to 165°C. This four head diaphragm pump can reach pressures of <2mbar which are needed for successful drying of medium boiling point solvents and is also housed in a matching case to the concentrators.
The Super Vacuum Pump is a scroll type vacuum pump for exceptionally demanding uses and freeze drying. This pump is capable of removing higher-boiling solvents at pressures down to 0.15mbar.
A Pressure Controller is also available and enables the user to have full control over the pressure running in the system, and to set the optimum boiling temperature for the solvent being concentrated, so that the cold trap can condense it most efficiently. Correct use eliminates the need for a very low temperature cold trap when removing extremely volatile solvents. Unit displays the pressure in the system 0 – 1100mbar with control in 1mbar increments. Pressure can be controlled one of four ways: Full Vacuum – as determined by pump, Controlled Pressure – user selection, Vacuum Ramp – user selects start pressure, ramp end pressure and ramp time, and Automatic Mode – For users who are uncertain of the appropriate pressures to choose, automatic mode detects pressure rise at boiling point and then controls for the rest of the processing time. For best results the Pressure Controller should be used in conjunction with the SpeedTrap Cold Trap. Compatible with all systems using a DUO or Quattro concentrator. Voltage: 90V-250V, Frequency: 50Hz – 60Hz.
System connection kits have everything you need for connection of miVac pumps and/or cold traps to your concentrator. Extension kit is also available.
Cold Traps condense solvent vapors back to liquid with a corresponding massive volume reduction. This volume reduction can greatly improve the performance of any vacuum system by helping to maintain a vacuum and speeding up the concentration process considerably. Designed for ultimate performance, the miVac SpeedTrap cold condenser coils are suspended in the vapor path so solvent vapors condense directly onto the coils and ultimately run off into the collection vessel below for a compact, efficient unit offering excellent visibility and ease of use. Choose from 3 settings to suit your application needs: Auto Defrost – for collection of solvents liable to freeze the system periodically defrosts preventing build-up of ice on the coils, Continuous Chilling – for maximum recovery of solvents that do not freeze above -50⁰C including most organic solvents, and Manual Defrost – when continuous chilling is used with solvents above -50⁰C and ice accumulates on the coils.
A vapor wash bottle for use with either acid or ammonia neutralizing solutions is available for use when working these chemicals. Traps are fitted after the pump and before the vapor is discharged to atmosphere or fume extraction system. Includes all connections. Neutralizing solution, sold separately, is required. Solutions change color when exhausted indicating when they need to be changed.

Accessories information: Keep your centrifugal evaporation system in good working order with spare and replacement parts.

Available miVac Jet Rotors and Open Sample Holders feature lightweight solid aluminum construction with a very high thermal conductivity, allowing for excellent heat transfer.

Available miVac Swing Rotors allow for use of microtitre plates in concentrators and can be combined with stackers for additional capacity.

The miVac SpeedTrap can be used in conjunction with a Super Vacuum pump to freeze dry samples.

Ordering information: If a non miVac pump (non-oil recommended) will be used with your miVac Duo or Quattro Concentrator a miVac Pump Control Valve and System Connection Kit are required to enable control of pump.
