A 2.0 mm temperature probe provides feedback to the controller about the animal’s core body temperature
Three-digit LED digital display on the front panel indicates the temperature in tenths of a °C
Temperature probe and heating pad plug into a junction box, which connects to controller via a 2.5 m shielded cable
The controller adjusts current to the heating pad to maintain the desired body temperature
The proportional DC power supply slowly varies current output to the heating element, based on the resistance of the monitoring thermistor probe
As a result, electrical noise and current fluctuations are eliminated
